1. Acne conglobata or acne fulminans.
2. Severe disfiguring inflammatory acne vulgaris.
3. Acne which is resulting in scarring.
4. Moderate acne which has failed to respond to topical agents combined with oral antibiotics, or in women, hormonal treatment.
5. Acne which relapses rapidly on discontinuing treatment.
